Community Calendar section has returned... and as always
the best resource for upcoming events in the GLBT community
of Long Island, see the "What's Going On" section of LICK
for listings of upcoming events.

In
our last announcement (see below) we indicated that this site
would be returning within a couple of weeks.. In fact, we
have returned and are in the process of updating
the site, putting new articles up, and catching up with the
behind the scenes administration of it. Please forgive some
of the outdated articles as we slowly bring things up to date.
We appreciate your patience in this matter. We are making
progress, albeit slowly.
We
also would like to wish all our visitors a safe and happy
holiday season.

As
you may have noticed, LICK has been on a little hiatus recently.
The site will be returning in full force in about two weeks.

We
have decided to drop our Comparison Shopping service.
The decision has been reached due to the complete unresponsiveness
of the partner company, SmartShop we had joined with
to provide the service. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause our readers. If we can return the feature with
a similar service in the future, we will.

Since
our entertainment coverage has been expanding exponentially
over the past year, we decided to give entertainment it's
own section on our site.. See LICK:
the Entertainment (section) for news, reviews, and
previews of all aspects of entertainment.
We
also decided to remove the "Forum" tab from the
side navigation area. This is due to the very little use the
Forum section has seen since we added it. Probably most people
in our community and especially our visitors prefer to use
the LI Pride Discussion eGroup
instead.

Happy
New Year everyone! The past few weeks, we here at LICK
have been taking a bit of a holiday from the site in honor
of the season of merriment. It's now a new year and we are
returning in full force. We have a great deal in store for
the site and we are glad to have you here for the journey.
Some fairy exciting stuff will be forthcoming.
Look
for LICK on the radio on OUTreach
this coming Saturday, January 5th at 8 PM.
If

We
have added a new Travel Section
over the weekend. Now you can book or get more information
on gay holidays and vacation packages.
Some
of our services may be drown.. Both our mini polls found on
certain pages may be missing and our "Tell a Friend.."
recommendation form may be temporality down while server hardware
is replaced. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

A
new feature has been added, The
Artist's Gallery. We will feature Long Island GLBT
artists each month. The photography of Dyane Leight
is featured.. Check it out.
Web
site links, events, and resource listings can now be submitted
to us using our Submission Form
(LICK: the Form).
We
now have interactive polls on select pages. The poll topics
will change on a regular basis. Cast your vote on various
topics, letting your opinion be known.
Another
interactive feature added recently is that you can now recommend
a page to a friend. So why not share an article with a friend
or two using our Tell a Friend feature (mostly found on the
left side-bar of most pages). If you want to recommend the
entire site as opposed to a particular page, then use the
"Tell a Friend.." form on our Home
page.
As
stated above, we now have a domain name URL to find us.. just
LICK the Web! Or rather, go to LICKtheWeb.com
for Community Connection (A.K.A. Long Island Community
Konnection (LICK)). Alternatively you can reach us at

as well.
Other
new features include an expanded Resource
Section that contains extensive
Links to other GLBT related sites and a community
calendar section with upcoming
local events as well NYC
events.
New
columns are on the horizon as well as new photographers and
other new contributors to LICK.
Other
exciting features will be forthcoming shortly as well.. stay
tuned.. it's only going to get better! One of which will be
an even further expansion of our resource section.
