THANKSGIVING
WITH MADONNA AT THUNDERS' LOCKER ROOM THURSDAY!
by Jed
Ryan

Madonna
has done it again! With her new compilation CD, "GHV2 (Greatest
Hits Volume 2)," she has turned her latest creative endeavor
into a major event. And Locker Room Thursday at Thunders
has also done it again! Thursday night's hottest Long Island
dance party attracted a packed house of trim and fit college
boys, fashion trend-setting no-nonsense gals, and Madonna
fans from as far west as Queens. Put Madonna and Thunders
together, and you've got a combination made in gay heaven.
On Thanksgiving night, Locker Room Thursdays at Thunders,
with Gay College Party, celebrated the release of Madonna's
new CD-- and many lucky Maddy fans walked away with posters,
CD's, DVD's, and more! DJ Donnie and DJ Vito Fun spun many
crowd-pleasing favorites that night and, of course, threw
in the "GHV2 Mega-mix"-- an exclusive remix by Thunderpuss.
Tony, one of the best-known and recognized party promoters
on the Long Island club scene, is the Founder and owner of
GayCollegeParty.com. Tony extends his promotional talents
beyond Long Island as well: his resume with Gay College Party
includes "Dorm Room," the Friday night party at Webster Hall
(125 E. 11th St. [3rd/4th] ); Saturdays at "Heaven" in Chelsea
(579 6th Ave. [16th]); and the ulta-chic "Spa" in the East
Village (76 E. 13th St. [4th/Broadway])-- of which Tony is
part of an elite team of promoters with the likes of Marc
Berkley, Gorge Ortiz, and the phenomenal Amanda Lepore (This
beautiful NYC personality performed at Wigstock 2001-- once
you've seen her, you'll never forget her!) In the works is
a party called "Fabulous" in White Plains (Grand Opening is
scheduled for January 2002), and a party in Florida ("the
very first Gay College Party in Miami") which will be held
every two weeks.
Tony works with a staff of about 30 people. Despite his nonstop
work on the party circuit, he has managed to find happiness
in his personal life as well: he has been with boyfriend Kiriakos,
who works at Thunders,
for two years.
GayCollegeParty.com,
which was founded two years ago, has been seen in Out, Genre,
the local Miami publication Miamigo, and the fab youth gay
mag "XY."
Tony is actually good friends with Peter Ian Cummings-- Founder,
Publisher, and Editor of "XY." YOU MUST CHECK OUT GayCollegeParty.com!
You'll find personals, chat rooms, a listing of events, a
message board, links, photos, and much more! Tony was pleased
to announce that GayCollegeParty.com
will be forming a partnership with PlanetOut.com,
the expansive and well-known gay news web site.
On Thanksgiving night, Thunders
was as packed as could be, as it usually is on Thursday nights.
Jasmyn, Phil, and Li'l Tommy served the crowd of partygoers,
who were treated to free rare Madonna giveaways, including
about 20 "Drowned World Tour 2001 DVD's, 100 "GHV2" CD's,
20 rare Madonna lithographs, and loads of posters and "GHV2"
Mega-mixes. Are you enough of a Madonna fan to win a DVD?
Then answer this question: What song did both Madonna AND
Donna Summer record? Think about it... the answer is at the
end of this article.
As for the new Madonna CD, it's a compilation of 15 Madonna
favorites from her last four CD's, "Erotica," "Bedtime Stories,"
"Ray of Light," and "Music," plus "Beautiful Stranger" and
one song from the "Evita" soundtrack. Although Maddy fans
have heard these songs a zillion times, plus the endless remixes,
remember... you can never have too much Madonna. OK, I was
a little disappointed that some of her hits WEREN'T
included, like "American Pie," "You'll See," and "Nothing
Really Matters." Plus, some of MY Madonna favorites
are actually the under-appreciated tracks like "Secret Garden"
(from"Erotica") and "Skin" (from "Ray of Light"). Oh, well.
It didn't stop me from being at Virgin Megastore, Union Square,
in Manhattan to buy the CD at midnight, November 13th. In
the CD insert is a writing from Briton Dan Cadan, friend of
Mr. Madonna Guy Ritchie. He opens with "And I am no expert
in Madonna, or music, but I feel that having spent some time
with her, in the capacity that I have, I am able to offer
a distinctly different insight into Her Royal Highness, Madonna
R., Queen of Pop." Cadan then offers some mirthful insights
on the "hidden meaning" behind some of Madonna's songs: "Secret"
was about "...a man's sudden realization that his girlfriend
is packing much more than she promised and as he/she shares
his/her secret with him, she sings the crushing prose.'..
happiness lies in your own hand...' Think about it. Think
harder." Was "Secret" really about a transvestite? Was "Deeper
and Deeper" really about a minor coming to terms with his
homosexuality, as Calan suggests? Who knows? But it will make
me and countless others analyze Madonna's lyrics even more!
Buy Madonna's "GHV2" (if you didn't win one at Thunders
already!) and the new "Drowned World Tour 2001," on video
and DVD. Check out "GayCollege
Party.com" and its sister site, "ParkandRide.com."
And head out for Locker Room Thursdays at Thunders.
Remember, Tony and the rest of the Thunders staff are working
extra hard to ensure your partying pleasure! Now THAT'S
a reason to give thanks!
By the way, the song recorded by both Madonna and Donna Summer
was "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," which is on "GHV2."
