The
V-day Worldwide Campaign stopped at Forevergreen
for Eve Ensler's Award Winning International hit - The Vagina
Monologues on Wednesday, March 6, 2002. Performances were
by fave regional lesbian artists, musicians, DJs, bartenders,
activists, radio and TV personalities including: MICHELLE
BALAN - comic, Sharon of Pandora's
Vox, Kathy & Maria - TV personalities from the Long
Island Rainbow Connection TV Show, Den - Radio Personality
from the Lavender Wimmin Radio Show, Dot Anderson - Rocky
Horror and Dorothy's
Rainbow, Maryann Murphy - comic and community activist
with Auntie
M's Helping Hands (AMHH), Robbie Grae - Activist formerly
known as Alana Samuels, Robin Renee - Singer/Songwriter with
Menage a Music and Kathleen Willoughby - poet, writer and
the original romantic.
This special
event benefited the Long
Island Lesbian Cancer Initiative's (LILCI) "Removing
the Barriers" program which promotes change
through human diversity training and associated technical
assistance. The goal of the curriculum is to educate service
providers so that sexual orientation and gender identity are
not barriers to health care. Also benefiting Eve
Ensler's "Afghanistan is Everywhere" which assists
women in Afghanistan during this critical time.
