Pris Pride Preps Proudly for La Isle de Fuego (Fire Island)! -- August 2000

Smooches darlings! I have one question for you Long Island GLBT's: Is it HOT enough for you? Priscilla does not take to the heat unless it's dry, tropical and I can quench my thirst with a tall, cool Pina Colada while my boys fan me. OHHH, it's getting mighty warm and I must stop or be late!

I am packing for my annual Fire Island jaunt. That's right, Priscilla will be at Cherry Grove once again for the summer. I will report all the Fire Island dirt in my next column. One thing's for sure, I will be able to review the food and atmosphere from The Top Of The Bay. Our boys from The Bunkhouse (Eugene, Larry and Michael) bought the place and I hear have done wonders with it. I can't wait to sample the goodies. I just packed my new summer evening frock for those special parties that only happen on the Island and hope to wear it when dining al fresco at The Top Of The Bay!

I will be the hit of the season with my new frock. It's a layered number made from multi-colored gauze designed by HuGeO Boss, the twin brother to Hugo Boss. What HuGeO does with gauze, girls it will totally astound you. He layers the fabric just so for us big boned girls. We feel like a million bucks knowing that a designer can hide what we want hidden and still make us look summer chic! Oh, by the way dearies, Fabrizio will be with me this year at Cherry Grove exploring his other side. You better pack your smelling salts Long Island, ‘cause no thong can hold him!

I have some dish for you all about May and June but I have to keep it short and sweet. Now for a Long Island Pride Parade recap! Kudos to Pete and Jim, Co-executive Directors, and the other Board member and volunteers. This year's 10th Anniversary Rally/Parade and Festival In The Park was a smashing success. The weather cooperated a bit too much with 98-degree heat and rising humidity (my hair was a mess, but who cared) and the committee made themselves and the Long Island GLBT community proud. From getting 50 groups to march as opposed to 35 in previous years... to the more than 10 GLBT rights supporters from the political community... striking a good balance with the Long Island drag talent while headlining with Female Impersonator Extraordinaire -- Randy Roberts... the committee did it once again. They organized a day that flowed from one event to another seamlessly and made our 10th Anniversary very special! Give them a resounding applause... kiss, kiss from Priscilla!

One last item before Fabrizio takes my laptop and packs it away. I simply must recommend a wonderful gay/lesbian friendly, quaint new spot Priscilla found. You simply must visit Surfside Inn, a bed and breakfast with a faboo restaurant and bar. Located on Old Montauk Highway in Montauk, the owners designed a wonderful get-a-way without phones, TVs, radios or clocks that only remind you all the things (or exes) that you left behind. It has a fabulous porch dining area with a scrumptious ocean view. Call them at (631) 668-5958 for reservations. They have few rooms but if you can get in, you won't be disappointed! Ask for Jemi Elder when dining and tell her Priscilla from Mother's Day said hi!

Ta-Ta sweeties! Stay cool and dry or hot and moist... your choice this summer! Priscilla is always watching either way!

Ciao bellas!
