Ode To Pride! -- August 2001

HELLOOOO Long Island Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgenders! The summer heat is already kickin' up its heels and Priscilla is staying cool and dry, my dress and panty shields are working overtime honey. I have so much to report in this issue. Between Pride Festivities, commitment ceremonies, weddings and a July 4^th jaunt to the Island (Fire not Caribbean), let's get right to it.

JUNE -- Pride Month!
I am sure that all of you know that faboo musical Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein. There is a lovely song, June is Bustin' Out All Over, sung by Cousin Nettie, a part I myself played in touring companies around the country. So, read the next copy to that lovely tune. Ready Maestro:

June Pride's bustin' out all over,
All over Long Island Pride was sent!
Pride's a-bustin' out while marchin'
And non-profits flags were wavin'
On that PRIDE DAY held this year on June the 10^th!

June Pride's bustin' out all over,
Pride feeling was getting so intense!
That the 3,000 people attendin'
Had been yelling and a-sendin'
All their thanks to the committee running the event!

Because in June...June, June, June.
Second Sunday's LONG ISLAND PRIDE DAY every JUNE!

Fresh and alive, and GAY and young,
The committee members are such sweeties
We kiss each and everyonnnneee!

June Pride's bustin' out all over,
Other groups held many PRIDE events!

And the Sports Day held by LIPSA
Long Island PRIDE was purely heaven sent!

LIGALY's prom was a faboo bash!
Too many PRIDE events to list here
Priscilla attends all of them each year
And each of them is truly a PRIDE smash!

Because in June... June, June, June!
LI Pride is best in June... JUNE... JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JULY -- Fourth Fun & Frolic on Fire Island!
Priscilla hosted a lovely July 4^th Festival for my two closest and dearest friends, Misty Blue and Sin Dee Saratoga! Sin Dee high-heeled it to Long Island all the way from Los Angeles. She never visited the Isle of Fire, so to Cherry Grove we ferried. Misty Blue is a local gal that needed to get out and see the local sights through a Fire Island virgin's eyes! The three of us picked those ripe Cherry Grove boys clean and had fun along the way.

We had a scrumptious lunch at Rachel's, this year run by that businessman extraordinaire PABLO! Bartender Mike L. is such a cutie/hottie that one can lose themselves in his eyes. He makes mean cocktails girls and boys, so get there quick! He uses the new flavored rums this season, Cabana Boy, in concoctions that are simply divine and decadent. Misty's Pineapple/Coconut Colada and Sin Dee's Vanilla/Cherry Rum and Coke were so tasty. As Mike L. said to us, "They're SINfully delicious and make your eyes MISTY with each sip!" Well, he won our hearts as he made my friends feel ever so special. Waitress Jill is so sweet and simply the best server on the Island. The food was scrumptious, the service was faboo and it is on my must visit list again when I visit in August for my 10 day jaunt!

After taking Sin Dee on a tour of the homes of the Grove and having a drink at Cherry's we decided to visit a cute new Cherry Grove business, The Whimsical Pet. Sin Dee went wild and practically bought out the store for Pepper, Sin Dee's black Cocker. Get your minds out of the gutter kids; it's a real dog! The treats and toys Carol and Beth sell for your pets are so divine and truly special. Opened since April 27^th, the owners run what they call an "EMPAWRIUM" with unique gifts and gourmet treats. Their goodies and dry goods are geared for Pets, Pet Lovers, Lovers of Pet Lovers and Lovers of the Unique. Described in other magazines as ‘The Place to go for ANIMAL CHIC', Beth and Carol find that the moment anyone walks in the first thing they do is smile. They are so right. The items are unique, fun and so cute! Located as soon as you walk on the dock when you get off the ferry in Cherry Grove, they want you to know their one rule: ‘Pets are always welcome as long as their owners are well behaved!' TOO CHIC! Major credit cards are accepted, they offer free delivery to the Pines and want you to know that ‘they do ship so you don't have to schlep'!
