Get
the Dish with Miss Priscilla Pride!
by Miss
Priscilla Pride
...
"When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright
and gay. And when Irish GLBTs are smiling, it's because a
hot bod is coming their way"...
Leprechaun,
in Irish folklore, means a fairy in the form of a tiny old
man wearing a cocked hat and leather apron; believed to possess
a hidden crock of gold. If captured and threatened, a leprechaun
might reveal the gold's hiding place, provided his captor
never took his eyes off him. Usually the captor was tricked
into glancing away, and the leprechaun vanished. Damn, isn't
that just like a man? You bait him, you hook him and then
he runs off after some other cutie. Then again if he looks
like that Lucky Charms imp, you're better off without him.
I wish a Happy St. Patty's Day to all my Irish cherubs in
our community. You Irish lads and lassies all dressed in green
reminds me of a golf course, people wearing funny clothes
and trying to get things into holes. Well, I raise my glass
in a toast to all in the green, the blue, the red or the color
of your choice!
February
events were simply to die for, I was so proud of all the groups
hosting their fund-raisers! LIGALY's 1st Annual MARDI GRAS was a huge success. Over
250 people attended. Pandora's
Vox, smash sensation got the crowd on its feet all night
long! They will be featured at this year's Pride Festival
In The Park and we know why, they are hot, hot, and even hotter!
The DJ was simply divine too, a little loud but who cares,
he got the crowd on its feet. When he spotlighted a chosen
few to shake their tooshies, well Priscilla nearly died! Too
cute for words! The food was faboo and the outfits were to
die for. There were some chic and exotic mask action going
on and those hiding behind them to tease and please... well,
let's just say Priscilla knows each one of you, mask or no
mask! There are many other characteristics that distinguish
someone beyond their faces and let me tell you the outfits
were just as hot as the masks!
The
Miss Auntie M's 2002 event at The Vanderbilt was another
spectacular fest. Auntie
M's Helping Hands Inc. and LILCI,
beneficiaries from the event, were represented well. Over
150 people danced and had fun, fun, fun! It was like Miss
America all over again. Judges scored the gals in talent,
evening gown and Q&A. We had programs that allowed us
to be judges too. It was so exciting! Miss December, Princess
Janea, won and was one of the crowd favorites! For her talent
Princess Janie did not sing but instead lip-synched to film
scenes performed by the best divas in Hollywood. Miss Thang
got so into it that I thought she was Joan Crawford ready
to thrash one of the judges for using wire hangers or Miss
Barbra yelling at the judges that she was not NUTS like they
wanted her to admit and be committed. I was a-scared but loved
every minute of her DIVA extraordinaire air of professionalism.
The judges made a wise choice. Princess Janea had stiff competition
from November and September but the Princess gave fiercely
royal performance! Smooches to Miss Auntie M's 2002!
March
9th - a new group, The
Long Island Wranglers, held their first meeting in
February. They are an all-new country music, cowboy and cowgirl
country-dancing (line dancing, 2-step, etc.) group for our
community. YEE-HA, get along little doggies. Their first country-dance
will be at CHOLI,
Saturday, March 9th. It starts at 8 PM and is $7
to get in. What does one wear to a who' down?"
you ask. I am a beginner and don't know a 2-step from
a conga line, can I still come?" You can go their website
and find out all you need to know and see some hunky cowboys
too, just type click
here and visit their site. Learn how to be the gayest
cowboy/cowgirl Long Island has ever seen. I have to see if
my one of kind Dale Evans creation still fits, suede is so
unforgiving but there's enough fringe to hide the extra pound
or two... okay, stop laughing! I have joined Weight Watchers
and lost 8 pounds so far. I saw Lady Ashley Brooke from La
Vue at Mardi Gras and said, So Ashley, look, I lost
8 pounds!" The witch with a capital B" said,
Cilla, if you lost 100 pounds I might notice."
Of course she was sucking down the last of her table's pastry
while moving on to the next one as she spoke and she wants
to throw stones!
March
14th - change is brewing at OUT
IN LI, and change can be a good thing. These 20 something
+ cuties are so committed to PRIDE and community amongst their
peers and with other organizations. Their calendar of events
includes writing workshops and discussion groups focusing
on YOU" the 20 something + crowd! Thursday, March
14th they are having an Executive Board Commitment
Meeting. The six-month term is coming to a close and this
meeting is for current board members to restate their commitment
as well as general members to take the next step in becoming
more involved. The meeting is at CHOLI. Visit OUT IN LI at
www.outinli.com.
Ohhh to be 20 something + again and I don't mean dress size
either! If I knew then what I know now, watch out!
March
16th - it's St. Patty's Day fever! Two events I know about
and am planning to attend both are hosted by AIDS
CARE Inc. and The Long Island Pride Parade Committee.
I couldn't decide which designer to choose that could take
me into both events and with slight additions or subtractions
still look fresh and hot. Then it hit me, Eve Saint Lawrence,
ostracized American cousin to Yves Saint Laurent. Eve was
the one who offered Monsieur Laurent that glass of champagne
the very night Yves was released from rehab back in the 70's.
Hey it was a party, the lights were set low and how was Eve
to know that Yves would not age gracefully while in rehab.
Eve thought she was talking to her uncle Ives, Yves father.
Oh well! Eve's collection this year is based on cousin Yves'
Mousseline 2002 collection entitled Hefferline 2002. Yves
uses diaphanous fabric wrapped tight showing each curve and
supple line while Eve understands us full figured gals and
wraps us loose and flowing because I have more curves than
the Southern State Parkway and supple I ain't. The St.
Patrick's Day Dance hosted by The
Long Island Pride Parade Committee is at the Sayville
VFW at 8 PM the ticket price is $20. DJ Denise will spin the
tunes and I am sure she has some Irish ditties planned and
there is a buffet, please God no corned beef and cabbage!
I see lots of lesbians and gays doing a country line Irish
jig. I see lots of people sitting at tables asking themselves,
Are they for real? What one will do for PRIDE?"
The
AIDS
CARE Inc. St. Patrick's Day Party is at Blanche
in Farmingdale with a $5 donation at the door. They plan a
50/50 raffle, a go-go leprechaun' (I envision a hunk
in a green thong with a BIG SHILLELAGH) and the premiere of
their version of Riverdance". This I must see!
Patrick Finn as Michael Flatley and God knows whom as his
woman in their Irish jig shoes. This will be worth the $5
donation. They should video tape it and rent it out to the
community at four bucks a pop! FUNDRAISING SUGGESTION
for Mr. Finn! Patrick darling, like Tupperware parties of
yester year, have people host Riverdance parties. The host/hostess
supplies the food and collects a donation from their guests.
They get to see the video but if you and a few of your hotties
come dressed in costume that suggests a higher donation and
then the money is all given to AIDS CARE Inc. Call me and
we'll talk!
So
choose one or both events and celebrate the Irish in all of
us, or soon to be in... oops, did I say that?
March
23rd - the celebrations just keep coming and
one very worthy group is celebrating their 10th
Anniversary. The
Long Ravens MC hosts their 10th Anniversary
weekend bash, March 22-24, at the Airport Holiday Inn in Ronkokoma.
There is a full weekend package for $125 that includes meals
from Friday through Sunday brunch as well as a ticket to their
X-RATED BALL on Saturday, March 23rd. The
full package (I love talking shop) DOES NOT INCLUDE room costs.
If you plan to stay the weekend, you have to book that separately
with the Airport Holiday Inn. The hallway fun alone is making
me book my room faster than a cracking whip... smack, ouch!
Now for those just attending just the X-RATED BALL, price
is $75 and it starts at 7 PM on the 23rd. Visit
them at www.liravensmc.org
for more details! The Long Island Ravens MC member attended
LIGALY's
MARDI GRAS and they added to the fun and merriment. John Dietz,
looking hotter than ever in his leather ensemble and the rest
of the gang were hot too. At one point I walked into the cocktail
hour room, which became the smokers' lounge during the main
event and rubbed my eyes in disbelief. There in front of me
was Al Lawrence, owner of The L.I.
Eagle, doing the hustle
with Jim Pizzo - Executive Director of Long
Island Pride Parade Inc. Where is Dance Fever/American
Bandstand when you need them? I would have given them a 98.7
for originality and costumes. Al in leather and Jim with a
shimmering shawl draped with a lovely PRIDE mask brooch, they
made my night!
Two Community facts I wanted to pass along cause
I am a gal on the go and you need to know what's new and what's
so!
