Hi Kids!
I know I missed you in August... silly me I sent my article
to Louis to post and then went on vacation and since I don't
check my email during my down time, I never knew the article
was kicked back... well this age of technology is just too
complicated for me... so here's August and September... ENJOY!
"Try
to remember the kind of September when the Grove was packed
with hunky fellows. Try to remember the kind of September
when your latest trick would get raves and bellows. Try to
remember and if you remember then follow (follow) follow (follow)
follow... (NO... stay out of the rack!)"
Well kids,
it's September 2002 and there still was no Michael's and The
Bay Leaf didn't open but I have to rave about the other restaurants
and how they picked up the slack and mention a FABOO new place
to the Grove that promises to come back! Top of the Bay,
Rachel's, The Cherry Pit and the Pizza Parlor all stepped
up to the plate this season. Each made sure they served their
food hot and fast and offered a wide variety to keep us well
sated. Congrats to all and my special kudos to Floyd's...
Brett is such a dream and breakfast is back boys and girls!
He serves lunch and other goodies too but us morning gals
love him to death. And his pooch is cute too! Woof-woof to
both of you!
September on the Grove still has some hot things planned...
The Grove Hotel presents the Fire Island Film/Video Festival,
September 8 - 13. For further information please contact
Steve Flynn (516) 694-2407 or Isaac Steven Vaughan (631) 597-6600,
ext. 6. Kids Hollywood glam will be all the rage at the Festival;
so don't miss out! Don't forget Miss Fire Island happens in
September as well and of course we have gal weekend in September
too! It's good to see the season continues past Labor Day!
AUGUST
NEWS!
GALFOLI
SWIMS TO SUCCESS WITH 14th Annual DOCK
OF THE BAY! Sunday, August 18th, the crème
de la crème of Long Island and NY attended the best
event of the season. Over 300 people applauded Maria
Mezzatesta, Maxine
Postal, Stephen Sebor,
and Louis Trapani
as they were honored by GALFOLI for their commitment to the
Long Island GLBT community. It was a scorcher but the crowd
managed to stay cool while they ate the good old fashioned
BBQ fare supplied Sanzio Foods and drank the libations made
by the bar staffs from The
Bunkhouse, The
Greens, The
LI Eagle and Thunders!
The Silent Auction Tent was the most popular as
always! A new addition this year that is sure to stay
around for a few more years to come was The Dunk Tank! Helen
of 608,
Michael & Eugene from The
Bunkhouse and Tommy from Thunders
are great sports... dunking for donations! Congratulations
the Board Members and Volunteers of GALFOLI for hosting such
a wonderful event. Look to their web site, www.galfoli.org
and find out how your Long Island 501 c 3 non-profit can apply
for a grant! These guys and gals, especially Barry
Jones and Jim Coppola, work so hard for our community...
I say KUDOS and CONGRATS to both and their Board!
LIGALY
has its own building! They are staying in Bayshore
and the interior of the 4300 square foot building is getting
a facelift just in time for the GRAND OPENING! A big bash
is being planned so watch those mail boxes for your invite!
They need help with a Capital Campaign kids! Robert O. Hawkins,
Jr. pledged a $10,000 matching gift so dial (631) 665-2300
and get involved with this worthy group to help them raise
the matching funds needed! Watch for those invites to their
October 6th BASH!
The FALLing
leaves are on my window... that's right kids, those leaves
will be changing color soon and it will be time for sweaters
and cocoa! We have some neat fundraisers to watch out for...
let's see October has a Halloween Dance sponsored by
the Long
Island Pride Parade Committee on October 26th
at the Sayville VFW Hall on Lakeland Avenue. Call them at
(631) 321-0906 or write them at info@liprideparade.com
for more information!
HELP GET
THE WORD OUT... the Long
Island Gay & Lesbian Film Festival will be from
November 14th - 17th at the Huntington
Arts Cinema! Their schedule is still being finalized but they
always bring such controversial and exciting films to the
Long Island audience! It is a must event for anyone into the
arts! Visit their website at www.liglff.org
and find out more about this worthy group!
SEPTEMBER
has some hot things planned and one site that I know many
of my readers love to visit, not as much as Priscilla though,
is www.liravensmc.org!
The Long Island Ravens MC are such hotties and give
back so much to the community, could you just die that their
Pipe and Drum Marching Band regrouped and made it into this
year's Long Island Parade! Well, look to their website and
visit their Calendar of Events for the rest of the year, but
look at September and one of their fellow groups in New Jersey
hosting a Nude Beach Run in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. As I have
always mentioned in past articles and will continue to say
it... there's nothing better than a man in leather, except
maybe a man out of leather, with some hot accoutrements! Priscilla
loves you all and if you need proof read my past articles
or better yet just contact me.
Summer
Fashion and a Fire Island Review... Could you just die
with the heat we had this season? Those three H's (hazy, hot
and humid) left me dizzy, damp and dewy! Thank God for gauze...
that's all I wore this season since it breathes with you and
can act as dress shield at the same time. Johnson & Johnson
(bandage gauze makers) branched out into the dress world and
saved my ass this season! Their wrap around line is simply
faboo! I saw all those cuties in shorts and tanks and sometimes
barely anything else and I say HOORAY for all of you... if
you got it flaunt it, and kids some of you have more of it
than anyone else. I was so happy to see more skin this season
than ever before. You all helped SinDee Santiago have a great
time this season. She visited from the west coast, LA area,
and stayed with me on the Grove for a few days! She's no longer
a Fire Island virgin... the Meat Rack will never be the same...
SinDee puts new meaning to the term meat and potatoes (if
you catch my drift). Well, this trip we went from Orient Point
to Montauk, from Cherry Grove to Provincetown and we both
agreed that if one wants charm and history and fabulous shopping
then PTOWN is the place to be, but for men and the complete
"gay ambiance" Cherry Grove wins HANDS DOWN! SinDee
says she will be back and can't wait to experience the Pines!
I told her that she was on her way there when she got way
laid in the rack but SinDee said there's always next season!
I had my own fun meeting Tom Katt before his show at Cherry's
on August 8th. I dined al fresco at The Cherry
Pit, sumptuous food of course, and this hunky, beefcake looking
like a younger, studlier Lou Ferigno walked in and it was
none other than Tom Katt and honey was he hot! We verbally
sparred and he promised to sign my butt that night during
his act and I told him... Tom, butt of course! SinDee nearly
died! So on a scale of 1 pair of lips to 5, we give Cherry
Grove 6 PAIRS OF LIPS for Summer 2002! DJ Denise made the
season even hotter at Cherry's... you go girl! Can't wait
to see you on the Main Land!
In
our jaunt to Orient Point and Montauk we came upon a new restaurant
in Shinnecock (there is so much I could do with this name
and believe me it's screaming for me to do something... but
no, I'll take the high road). The restaurant is right on the
Shinnecock Canal... it's called White Water Grille, 7 North
Road in Hampton Bays (phone number (631) 728-7373... new owner
from Australia... great food, nice view, fabulous wait staff
and delectable dining! Our waitress, Keri, could be mistaken
for Renee Zelwigger, she could be her double in films! Keri
is so sweet and she made the dining experience ever more pleasant!
Priscilla
has to run to meet with her couturiers for my Winter Ball
and holiday ensembles... and you all think it's easy
being me... I love it though... Ta-ta for now!
Kisses - Priscilla!
