Long Island Dish with Priscilla

Get the Dish with Miss Priscilla Pride!
by Miss Priscilla Pride

Here comes Peter’s Cottontail, hoppin' down Sunrise Highway’s trail. Hippity hoppity Easter’s on its way! Tellin’ the Long Island boys, his basket’s full of Easter joys. Peter’s Cottontail will make your Easter bright and gay! His ‘pepperoni’ is Tommy’s (HHHmmmm), his colored eggs (ouch) are Drew’s, there's an orchid for Priscilla and an Easter bonnet too. YEAH! SOOOOO…Here comes Peter’s Cottontail. Fluff it up and make him wail. Hippity hoppity, Happy Easter Day!

One more time for all my Jewish gays!

Here comes Peter’s Cottontail, hoppin' down Sunrise Highway’s trail. Hippity hoppity Passover is on its way! Bringin' the Long Island goys, his basket full of Seder joys. Peter’s Cottontail will make your Passover bright and gay! His ‘shank bone’ now is Tommy’s, his matzo balls are Drew’s, there's an orchid for Priscilla and a Passover yarmulke too. YEAH! SOOOOO…Here comes Peter’s Cottontail. Fluff it up and make him wail. Hippity hoppity, it’s Passover Day!

Easter and Passover, two very significant times in our religious history boy and girls. Priscilla means no disrespect she just wants to make sure everyone knows it’s just her satirical wit and witticisms that everyone has come to love and nothing ever is intended to hurt. It seems April is a packed month kids…

As the saying goes, COFFEE, TEA OR ME? (Wink, wink!)

That’s right kids, as the song says, ‘don’t buy sugar, you just have touch my cup. You’re my sugar; it’s sweet when you stir it up!’ As you read this I hope you will stop and call to buy a ticket to that faboo event…the Gay & Lesbian Switchboard of Long Island presents their Annual Coffee House, Friday April 4th. Priscilla will be Café-ing Au Lait-ing it with the community folks attending and enjoying the sweet sounds and treats! It starts at 8 PM and will cost you $20 in advance or $23 at the door…that door being The New Huntington Town House on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station…hurry, you can still make it. The lineup of performers includes hottie Michael Bonti with sexy Lisa Lally, The Long Island Pride Chorus cutie patooties, Dennis Milone and Estrogen…is it hot in here or what? Please, run and get to this faboo evening and support this very worthy group. The Switchboard volunteer staff provides such wonderful services over the phone for those in need in our community. From information calls, to cries for help calls…these special volunteers must be commended and applauded for all their hard work for our community. KISSES from Priscilla, you do Long Island Proud! Visit their website today, www.glsbli.com, and see how you can help! Call (631) 399-2234 for ticket information and remember…ALL PAID TICKETS WILL BE HELD AT THE DOOR!

Come on along & listen to, the lullaby of Broadway, the Hit Parade and ballyhoo, the lullaby of Broadway…

SCOOP… a benefit for Auntie M’s Helping Hands Inc., sponsored by Eddie Finan and his new play… OH SO DIVINE… who knew we had another Oscar Wilde in our midst. I love theater and plan to have a front row seat. Eddie finally got a cast together and signed on none other than my sister… Ariel Sinclair as the lead… FABOO! I’m teary, weepy…yesterday Miss Long Island, today local star, tomorrow… who knows… American Drag Idol! What? It could happen! Anyway, Sunday April 6th and April 13th, at the Creative Ministries Performing Arts Center on Montauk Highway in Oakdale at 7PM the doors will open and the crowds will no doubt cheer for this premiere event. Other cast members include: Dominick Rose, Bill McCarthy and Miss Peggy. The incredible director and choreographer extraordinaire, Mr. Matthew Quinn, is working incredible magic with Eddie’s script… I smell Tony awards here…the envelope please! Call (631) 218-2810 for your tickets, $20, and yes they may be purchased at the door, but I wouldn’t wait…I smell a sell out.

Other show biz news came across my desk this past month…

A Bite Of Broadway needs a rehearsal space one or two nights or weekends to supplement LIGALY’s generous donation of space. So if anyone knows of a space or has any ideas or wants to get involved…call Lauren at (516) 319-6353 or email them at biteofbroadway@aol.com.

…I’m a man’s ideal of a perfect meal, right down to the demitasse. I’m a hungry joy for a girl or boy and what’s more, I’m a-cookin’ with gas! I’m a gumdrop, a sweet lollipop, and a recipe right from the book! And what’s more baby, I CAN COOK… oh, I remember those lyrics from my one-woman show!

And cook RS JONES does so well… I can just taste their culinary caloric cuisines…and my dress designers will scream that I feted feverishly while my dresses bust at the seams, but who cares it’s all for a great group and a great cause… The Nassau County Lesbian & Gay Democrats. That’s right, it’s their 2nd Annual Spring Brunch! Sunday - April 27th from 12 PM until 3 PM you will find RS JONES packed with the who’s who of the Long Island GLBT community. Once again our these noted notables can be caught chowin’ down on some mighty fine home cookin’; seeing some of them lickin’ their chops and trying to clap while Bill Borman makes announcements is just too priceless. So get those tickets early and don’t miss out on a fun event. Tickets can be reserved by sending a check to NCL&G Democrats, PO Box 334, Long Beach, NY 11561 or contact them at NCGayDems@aol.com or call (516) 294-3366.  Price is $30 in advance and $35 at the door! To this worthy group I send KISSES for all your work and the group’s too!

Take me out to the ball game; take me out to the park. Get me some nuts from a vendor named Jack, off I go and I’ll never come back…

It’s sport news time kids. LIPSA, Long Island Pride Sports Association, announces that it’s softball season kicks off May 1st. And who should have a team, none other than a long lost sibling of Miss Venise Charles… he’s back - CARLOS. That’s right folks, Miss Venise Charles has left the building and she will be missed! She is retiring…once again, but this time it’s forever…can anyone say Naomi Judd… just teasing girlfriend, you’re fierce and you know I l love you. After the successful 5th Annual Drag Invasion on April 26th, tickets still available at participating bars…BLANCHE, THE BUNKHOUSE, CLUB 608, AUNTIE M’s, SIMPLE PLEASURES and The L.I. EAGLE, Miss Venise is off to a long awaited, much needed rest on a secluded island…her brother CARLOS is coming back with a vengeance and has formed his own team for the LIPSA softball competition…Long Island Yanks… and can CARLOS swing a bat and field some balls!

I’m sittin’ at DOCK OF THE BAY, watching the hard workin’ lesbians and gays, just sittin’ at 2003 DOCK OF THE BAY waiting for silent auction time! Sittin’ here restin’ my bones, bought so much and now how can I bring it home? Sittin’ at 2003 DOCK OF THE BAY and know I had a great time!

We all were given some good news recently… August 17th is the date for GALFOLI’s annual Dock Of The Bay 2003 Summer Party and their honorees this year are: Long Island Pride Parade Inc., Tommy Leahy, David Kilmnick and Justine Schachter. Worthy all! Visit www.galfoli.org for more information!

I’d like to close this month with a special tribute to one of the most dedicated, loving and certainly most generous women in our community… CAMILLE GNOLFO! Miss Camille closed Forevergreen on February 28th and it stunned some and it was heartbreaking to us all. My soul sister, Camille, always offered her bar for fund-raising events without question but with oodles of PRIDE to help our community groups raise money. But most importantly Camille, along with her friends and bar staff, worked tirelessly to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research through those annual Fall fund-raisers. Camille’s been honored several times over the years including a couple of years ago at Dock Of The Bay 2001. She’s a class act and Forevergreen will be missed but we all know Camille is here to stay and that our community has not seen the last of her yet! So CAMILLE… KISSES and HUGS, LOVE and SMILES for a bright future!

Bye for now, Priscilla!
