New Address: LICKtheWeb.com !
Community
Connection has a new address, actually a few new URL addresses
(domain names). This was done to make your favorite web site
easier to find and easier to tell others... Now all you need
to do is lick the web... or more specifically
LICKtheWeb.com. LICK stands for Long Island
Community Konnection. But wait, you say we spell "Connection"
with a "C," not a "K." Well, this little
letter goes "both ways" in our name! "The Web" obviously
means the web site.
We invite
you to lick the web as often as you like. We are still
Long Island's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender eZine.
We like to keep a sense of fun and free spirit in our eZine,
with that in mind, LICKtheWeb.com fits right in. Now,
just wait for LICK: the Movie!

more conservative visitors of Community Connection,
you can reach us at li-connect.com
or li-connection.com if
you rather not "lick the web." Just remember
to use the hyphen in li-connect.com otherwise you will find
yourself at a different site.

LI
Community Konnection Gets a Face Lift!
As you
may have noticed, LI Community Konnection has a
new look. We are did this to improve the experience of
visiting LICKtheWeb.com. By now all of our old
pages should be updated with the new redesign.
Why
the Change?
We feel
that it easier for our visitors seeing text on a white background
as opposed to the lavender. So while still keeping with the
same color scheme already established, the site has been (is
in the process of being) updated. Another change is the multiple
columns within the same article. Now, all articles will be
just one column. This should decrease the amount of scrolling
up and down the page to read an article, now you only need
to continue scrolling down.
Let us
know your feedback on the changes, as well as your suggestions
for future changes. As of now, the redesign site works and
looks best with MS Internet Explorer.

What
is LI Community Konnection / LICK?
Community
Connection (or Long Island Community Konnection
(LICK)) is a web-based magazine covering the Long Island
gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community and its
allies. We welcome you to this new web publication (eZine).
We hope you will find it enjoyable, useful, and we welcome
your feedback and contributions to it.
Our
intention is not to compete with other media outlets already
established in the GLBT community of
Long Island. We are here to compliment existing publications.
In fact, some articles may be shared among the various media
outlets. We encourage you to continue to support such print
publications, as well the television show Rainbow
Connection, the radio show OUTReach
and Lavender Wimmin, as well as the various others
not mentioned here. We also encourage everyone to continue
to use various other web-based resources which also cater
to the Long Island GLBT community such as The
Long Island Lesbian, and Gay
Long Island Web.
If
you are not already a subscriber to either or both of the
LI Pride eGroups, please consider
doing so, it is a great way to stay on top of what is going
on the local front here in the Long Island GLBT community
delivered right to your email inbox (alternatively you can
read the postings on the web if you rather as well). See below

We
have added a new Travel Section
over the weekend. Now you can book or get more information
on gay holidays and vacation packages.
Some
of our services may be down... Both our mini polls found
on
certain pages may be missing and our "Tell a Friend..." recommendation
form may be temporality down while server hardware is replaced.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

A
new feature has been added, The
Artist's Gallery. We will feature Long Island GLBT
artists each month. The photography of Dyane Leight
is featured... Check it out.
Web
site links, events, and resource listings can now be submitted
to us using our Submission Form
(LICK: the Form).
We
now have interactive polls on select pages. The poll topics
will change on a regular basis. Cast your vote on various
topics, letting your opinion be known.
Another
interactive feature added recently is that you can now
recommend
a page to a friend. So why not share an article with a friend
or two using our Tell a Friend feature (mostly found on
the
left side-bar of most pages). If you want to recommend the
entire site as opposed to a particular page, then use the "Tell a Friend..." form
on our Home
page.

stated above, we now have a domain name URL to find us...

Other
new features include an expanded Resource
Section that contains extensive
Links to other GLBT related sites and a community
calendar section with upcoming
local events as well NYC
events (updated Saturday, October 27, 2001).
New
columns are on the horizon as well as new photographers and
other new contributors to LICK.
Other
exciting features will be forthcoming shortly as well... stay
tuned... it's only going to get better! One of which will
be an even further expansion of our resource section.
